Trade Finance Global (TFG), award-winning debt finance broker, yesterday announced Maersk as the winner of “Best Shipping Company” at the International Trade Finance Awards 2019.

Maersk was awarded this commendation for its trade finance offering to customers and customers’ suppliers since its launch in 2017.

In a statement, Global Head of Maersk Trade Finance, Vipul Sardana, said:

“It is an honour to be recognised at the International trade finance awards for all the benefits that Maersk Trade Finance brings to global trade.”

He continued:

“Access to capital remains to be one of the largest obstacles to the growth of trade and there is still a lot that needs to be done. With Maersk Trade Finance we are helping SMEs with finance when they need it the most and thus enabling them better access to global trade.”

This is just one of a number of successes for Maersk in 2018, which also saw the industry giant launch its TradeLens solution: a blockchain-fuelled platform for international trade. The platform is supported by a number of industry-leading companies, and was co-developed with IBM, but operates independently of both organisations.

In the rush towards digitalisation, 2018 also saw Maersk launch its online booking system and the ‘Twill’ digital freight forwarder.

TFG host the Trade Finance Awards annually in order to commend those companies who contribute to innovation, vision and market pioneering solutions in global finance.
