IATA have announced that the demand in global air freight has increased by 3.1% in October 2018. This demand has been measured in the tonne kilometres measurements.

Furthermore, October’s results have also shown a rise in freight capacity (which is measured in freight tonne kilometres) by 5.4%. This is reported the eighth month in a row that demand has been overtaken by capacity growth.

The growth of e-commerce has been said to be “making up for sluggishness in more traditional markets” by IATA CEO.
