Freight Transport Association confirms the three-week old venture has been shortlisted alongside industry leaders such as Mercedes-Benz.

Less than one month after its launch, Freightabase, the online shipper comparison database, has been shortlisted for the industry-renowned FTA 2018 Logistics Awards.

The news comes as Freightabase adds its 230th company to the site just three weeks after its launch, as the product gears up to connect thousands of industry stakeholders across the globe with the optimum carrier services for their needs.

The FTA’s ‘Most Innovative Product of the Year’ award is designed for those companies who have launched a new solution which will transform the logistics industry for the better. Freightabase was confirmed as one of the successfully shortlisted entrants in this category, during a year which saw record numbers of submissions.

Freightabase is an online platform for comparing freight carriers, designed so that any freight forwarder, exporter or importer can use it. Instead of focussing purely on price, the system allows users to find carriers who meet specific criteria of interest, such as location, mode of transport and consignment specialisms such as dangerous or perishable goods via its keyword search function. The project has been a mammoth undertaking, driven by the founding team’s years of experience within the freight industry.

Other companies who have been shortlisted by FTA include industry giants such as Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK, Aldi, and Transport for London.

David Wells, Chief Executive of the FTA, commented: “These finalists really are the crème de la crème of our sector; the companies and individuals driving the UK economy forward and keeping the wheels of business moving. The judges were bowled over by the dedication, diligence and expertise shown by each finalist. They should all be extremely proud of the invaluable contribution they are making to the logistics industry, and to the continued success of the UK’s economy.”

The FTA’s Board will now complete their final round of judging, ahead of the finalists being announced at a ceremony held at The Royal Lancaster in London this December. The prestigious awards will be presented by comedian and entertainer, Dara O’Briain.
