Crosstrades The world is a very small place these days. Many companies source raw materials and finished product from all corners of the globe. Some companies sell that product on, many times to customers who are also overseas. In this instance, the buyer has two choices. The easiest but most expensive way is to import the goods back in to their own country of residence first and then re-export to their customer's country of residence. The other, much cheaper and quicker alternative, is to send directly from the country of origin to the country of destination. This transaction is known as a "Crosstrade". For most companies, one of the major drawbacks to the crosstrade is their lack of experience and knowledge of freight markets outside of their own country.
